My great Grandmother, Sarah Mandy Hall helped me stitch my first sampler when I was 8 yrs old. I recall her always mending or hand=stitching. She made all her own clothes by hand out of old feedsack material. Her and my Grandpa lived in an old funeral home. Her kitchen was as primitive as it gets. She cooked on a wood-burning stove which I now have in my own home. She was my inspiration. I've always been surrounded with old things and appreciate the old, worn, used, tattered look that tells me that precious everyday items were so dear and hard to come by. This has made me appreciate the simpler things in life. I am so thankful. After doing numerous other jobs, Thanks to my husband Mike, he made it possible for me to follow my dream. I've been creating primitive folkart since 1984 as a profession. I've been blessed with the best job in the world. I've won an Honorable Mention in Country Sampler Magazine for a home decorating contest and have also had one of my many Antique Teddy Bears featured in the 1994 Hallmark Teddy Bear Calendar. "Teddy Theodore" was featured in the month of June, 1994 and was chosen out of thousands of bear pictures submitted. He was even flown to New York City for a Calendar photo shoot and can you believe that he was a one dollar find at a garage sale. I displayed my wares in numerous juried shows and even won "Best in Show". What an honor that was. Mike and I purchased an "Old Kentucky Home" after he retired from the U.S. Air Force.
